Christ Power Church & Ministries

Edward D. Harris, Sr. – Senior Pastor

A Church Turning People to the POWER in Jesus Christ

To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sin and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in ME (Jesus) Acts 26:18

  • Pastor Harris was called and voted in by the memberships of Christ Sent Fellowship Church to become their new Pastor.

  • Because of a new ministry vision the church membership voted unanimously to establish New Christ Sent Fellowship Church as our new name.

  • At this time we were having our worship services at (The Door) 219 North Chester Street in East Baltimore.

  • Under the leadership of Pastor Harris our ministry focuses on equipping believers to move beyond their limitations and use their God given spiritual gifts, natural abilities and talents to reach their maximum potential in Jesus Christ.

  • Our ministry mission statement was found in Acts 26:18, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”. A church turning people to the power in Christ.

  • God has given our ministry the awesome responsibility to minister to the urban/ inner city by helping to restore hope to those who are lost.

  • Our goal as we minister to the urban community was to help reform the lives of people who have been rejected and forgotten; because of our compassion many outreach ministries were born; several ministries were developed to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the urban community. We started our Men’s, Women’s ministries

  • The Lord led us to continue outreach, but during this time we also developed some in-reach ministries; we established our music/dance, hospitality, youth and children’s ministries.

  • We moved from The Door to a new building at 404 North Castle Street (just around the corner from the Door).

  • On October 18, our church received full status membership as a recognized church in the Evangelical Free Churches of America.

  • The Lord continued to expand our outreach through our Thanksgiving basket outreach. Through our outreach effort we were able to feed eight families.

  • Our ministry outreach continued to expand by adding the Women’s ministry mercy clothing store for men, women, and children

  • At the end of 2008 our ministry went through transition and decreased in its membership; as a church family we had to trust in the direction that the Lord was moving us in as a church ministry.

  • Our church moved our worship services back to (The Door) 219 North Chester Street.

  • We also partnered with an all boy’s group home, We Are The World, Inc. to help provide spiritual development to young men ages 9 – 17.

  • We launched our ministry website to expand our ministry outreach outside of our community into the world.

  • In February of 2009 we added two new ministries to the church, our marriage ministry and singles ministry. We also re-developed our Christian education program (youth and children’s ministry) to equip youth and children to be totally submitted to Lordship of Jesus Christ.

  • We also launched our church van campaign, to raise money to purchase our first church van for the ministry.

  • Under the direction of Lady Sheli Harris our women’s ministry in March of 2009 started a women’s fitness fellowship called “Walking in the Spirit” as well as a women’s prayer fellowship, The Sister’s Circle.

  • In May of 2009 the men’s ministry started the Boy’s to Men Mentor Basketball Fellowship to reach the youth in our church and community.

  • We also continued our Thanksgiving outreach and were able to feed 18 families.

  • On January 7, 2010 through prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit, at our churches first annual church-wide business meeting the church voted unanimously to change our name to Christ Power Church & Ministries.

  • Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, we changed the name of our ministry from New Christ Sent Fellowship Church to Christ Power Church & Ministries.

  • We finished our church van campaign in February and raised the amount needed to purchase our first church van.

  • As we continued to follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit and trusting the Lord for ministry growth, in March of 2010 we moved our Sunday worship services from the neighborhood community center (The Door/ 219 North Chester Street) to the local elementary school (Commodore John Rogers Elementary School Auditorium).

  • After raising money through our church-wide stewardship campaign to purchasing our first church van in February, by the grace of God and through the spiritual gifting and commitment to the Lord; the Lord raised up three members in the month of November to head-up our church transportation ministry.

  • In January we started a two year stewardship campaign to raise money for our church building. We believe that God will provide us with the resources needed for our new church building.

  • In March we had our ministry fair as we believe and trusted the Lord to bless us to become a 90-10 church; where 90% of our church membership is serving in a ministry within the church and the other10% of our members are in training to serve in the church. It is God’s expectation that we would not be just members, but that we would become servants in the church. Because of this commitment we saw every ministry in our church grow.

  • Our ministry continued to thrive as we have witnessed God do some amazing things in our years of service to Him.

  • In the first few months of 2012 we purchased our second church vans and paid for it in full.

  • In October we continued to raise resources in our two year church-wide stewardship campaign. We believed that God would provide us with the resources needed for our new building.

  • In August 2012 CPCM hired a realtor to help us locate a building that we could worship in, we had been renting space in three different locations since 2006. At the start of this church building journey it was difficult; between the months of August 2012 to January 2013 we were shown four buildings but none of them were God’s building for us.

  • July 11, 2013 our Pastor and the Church Board went to visit 4545 Harford Road to see the building up close; we prayed in the building on that day and left that location believing that was God’s building for us.

  • September 2013 the seller of the 4545 Harford Road location blessed us with a very large financial blessing. After looking at seven buildings all over Baltimore City and being turned down by four banks, we still kept our faith in God’s promise to bless us with our own place of worship.

  • November 19, 2013 we received a phone call from our realtor that we were approved for a commercial property loan for the purchase of 4545 Harford Road in North-East Baltimore that sits on almost an acre of land.

  • We kept believing God to work things out is our favor and after a few talks with our realtor and much prayer the Lord moved on the banker to give us more money toward the purchase of the building; and the seller bless us with financial resources we needed to help us meet our financial goal to close the deal.

  • On January 7, 2014 our church went to close on the property at 4545 Harford Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21214.

  • Our first service was held at 4545 Harford Road on January 19, 2014. Hallelujah!

  • In February, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit our Pastor began a Saturday morning prayer meeting as well as a community prayer walk on the first Saturday of every month to pray for the church impacting this new community that the Lord has placed us in.

  • In the few months that we have been praying for God to send the harvest, Preaching the word of God, and loving on people; we have been blessed to see people give their life to Jesus Christ and people join with us in Christian Membership. To God Be The Glory

  • We contine to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ with His authority and power. We continue to love on people through fellowship and outreach. We have partnered with the Baltimore Rescue Mission to do outreach to the homeless population in Baltimore City. We have continued to serve Jesus Christ for the past 10 years and we are grateful to God. In the past 10 years we have witnessed many people come to Christ as a growing ministry through the work of our church. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to Turn People To The Power In Jesus Christ.
